Although we don’t get to get out much (that’s because we choose to keep you guys informed about life), we want to make sure that YOU can enjoy concerts, traveling and other festivities that life has to offer.

The most recent event on the horizon is Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Before we give you our survival guide and list of acts that will be there how about a little history of what Coachella is so that my soon to be party goers can have a clue about what’s going on.  

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (commonly referred to as Coachella) is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. It was founded by Paul Tollett in 1999 and is organized by Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of AEG Live. The event features many genres of music, including rock, indie, hip hop, and electronic dance music, as well as art installations and sculptures. Across the grounds, several stages continuously host live music. The main stages are: Coachella Stage, Outdoor Theatre, Gobi Tent, Mojave Tent, and the Sahara Tent.

Now that the formalities are out of the way, here are a few tips when attending events on this scale.

Dwelling

I’m sure that tons of people would feel that if they’re not on ground zero camping it out, day in and out 24/7 while the party rages, that they haven’t truly experienced Coachella and I can’t say I necessarily blame them. With that being said I would suggest getting a hotel! If it’s one thing I can assure you, there won’t be much sleeping going on and what little bit of rest and cleaning that you indulge in should be in a nice room. Check here for a place to bed.

Getting There

Your mind is made up and you’re going, rain, hale or high water; now how are you getting there? Fly, drive, walk or bike it (I wouldn’t suggest you participate in the latter two options unless you live near the event or your bike is a touring cycle). Events such as these are always great to travel with friends as long as you have an RV or a very nice rental van, but if you’re doing the solo thing or if it’s one or two other friends, flying may be your mode of transportation

Transportation Around

Now that you’ve made it to the place to be, there has to a mode of transportation to get you to the festivities. Mind you, this isn’t your old college days to Miami Beach or Cancun, you need transportation that will take you there and bring you back consistently and freely. May I suggest the Hotel Shuttle?  If you’re staying at one of the hotels near Indio, shuttles will be your best friend. They’ll save you the hassle of dealing with waiting in long parking lines and actually having to trek from the parking areas to the festival’s gates. Plus, it’s probably a good thing for your group to have a designated driver…in the form of a shuttle operator. All hotel shuttle information can be found here.

Grooming

Coachella is stationed in the desert—outside, which means elements. Taking into consideration that being outside, sweating, vibing to the groups on stage, walking, being horizontal and vertical will produce dirt and grime, how are you planning on keeping that beard on point or even keeping up with your skin care? Well, make sure you pack only the essentials as this is going to be one for the books.
