My First Date,

I remember it like it was yesterday….my first date that is. The year was 2002; I picked her up in my 1985 Toyota Corolla station wagon. The temperature was about 30 degrees, and my heat didn’t work. I wanted things to be memorable so I let her use the heated seat warmer I normally use, and I brought some extra blankets to tuck her in because the window on her side didn’t raise up all the way.

Before she knew where I was going, we pulled up at the restaurant…Little Caesars, inside of Kmart. I remember her staring at me, (I saw her out of my peripheral)and could tell she was thinking I can’t believe you brought me here, So I looked at her and told her one of my best lines at the time: I know what you thinking babe, I can read your mind. She said, “Oh yeah?! What is it saying?”, I said you wondering why I brought you here. She said “Yeah, that among other things”, I replied “because you’re hot and I’m ready.”

So we go to the counter and she’s trying to figure out what she wants to order, which surprises me because if its more than one topping this date’s over.  I immediately took charge, I ordered Crazy Bread, eight warm sticks of freshly-baked bread topped with the flavors of butter and garlic then sprinkled with parmesan cheese. I knew she was impressed……
