Whether it is her birthday, Christmas, or you just want to get her something special, buying presents is a bit of a hassle. There are so many things that you can get her, but rarely ever do you have any idea of what she actually wants. Buying gifts for women is a bit different than buying a gift for a friend- when buying a gift for one of them you really just have to pick something that you would want. It’s a bit different for women, as it’s rare to find a guy who wants a diamond heart necklace. How do you find out what a women wants as a gift? Well, you can always take her to the mall and let her pick whatever she wants, but if you want it really special, you will want to pick it out yourself.
Let’s be honest here, when it comes to most women, what you get us doesn’t really truly matter. Just getting something from you is special, as it tells us that you are thinking of us. That being said, buying us some random crap from the 7/11 down the street is not going to “wow” us. When I was dating an ex of mine, he bought me jewelry constantly, and if I am being 100% honest, his taste in jewelry is that of my nephew who makes me macaroni bracelets. I was still happy getting the jewelry, though. As ugly as it was it still meant that he was thinking of me.
When people say it’s the thought that counts, they are actually right. As cheesy as it may sound, it is true. The best gift I ever received was just spending the day with my boyfriend on my birthday, especially considering during that time it was difficult for us to see each other due to our schedules. The best gift I got was a present that did not cost a dime, but made me extremely happy. Spending time with him beat every piece of jewelry or gift he could have given me.
Now, I am not saying don’t buy your girl jewelry- go ahead after all, “diamonds are a girl’s best friend” as the old song goes. The point is to make it something that would mean something to her; if you are going to buy her jewelry, maybe go for her favorite color or birthstone- get it engraved. If she’s into something like sports or comic books, get something that has to do with that. Don’t just go out and buy her some random necklace because it’s “nice”- specialize it to her.
The best recipe for buying her a gift would be something that she would love that is not easy for her to get herself; this goes back to my example of my boyfriend spending time with me. It’s not exactly the easiest thing when it comes to thinking up a great gift, but it works wonders in helping you find the perfect gift. If my boyfriend wants to try out a new spicy restaurant with me, often times I would try to avoid such a situation, as I absolutely hate spicy food. As a special sort of gift for him, I might go with him, and even pretend to not be totally disgusted by how spicy it is.
